Amvest and the Almere municipality have jointly made the DUIN site available for Europan.
Around 50 sites have been made available throughout Europe with six of these being in The Netherlands. As well as the site in Almere there are sites in Amsterdam, Capelle aan den IJssel, Deventer, Eindhoven and Leeuwarden. Each site has an area of study that requires a spatial vision as well as a design area that requires further architectural elaboration.
ALMERE – DUIN
The DUIN design brief for the participants is to design an unusual, unique, demountable building that can initially be used as an eye-catching information centre or cultural pavilion and then be ‘reused’ as freestanding accommodation in the woods. The study brief is to make a landscape design for the wooded area that already exists, with particular attention for the new water system that has to be laid and in particular the way in which the areas that are known as the ‘wooded fields’ can be built on.
