Phase 1
The total area development of Strijp R consists of approximately 500 units of accommodation. Phase 1 consists of 86 units made up of 39 lease and 47 owner-occupied properties. Sales are progressing successfully and the sales threshold has been reached. The site is currently being prepared for construction by Janssen de Jong Infra. It is expected that property leasing will start in December of this year while Phase 1 handover is expected to be in the first half of 2013.
Strijp R area development
Amvest purchased the 19 ha. site, where Philips previously manufactured cathode-ray tubes, a few years ago, and is responsible for the development of the entire site and all buildings. In order to preserve the memory of the location the former platform, some of the paving, countless trees, the pipe bridge and a few buildings will be retained. At the end of 2010, designer Piet Hein Eek set up his showroom, workplace, upholsterers, shop, gallery and an extensive restaurant in two of these buildings.
Amvest Residential Core Fund
The lease properties in the Strijp R project will be added to the Amvest Residential Core Fund. This fund, which currently has more than 6,000 lease properties in the medium priced sector with a total value of € 1.2 billion, is open to new investors. Amvest is also working on setting up a new niche fund in the Dutch housing market.
