DUINAlmere

Living and working with views over the water... parading on a real boulevard... dining on the beach... the DUIN plan for the Kustzone in Almere unites living, working and recreation. Amvest is developing an area on the water complete with a sandy beach and dunes that are up to 9 metres high. According to the planning, DUIN will be started in 2012.

Seaside resort

The DUIN plan will give the Kustzone in Almere the character of a real seaside resort with space for living, working and recreation. A total of 2,990 properties are planned with approximately half being ground floor and the remainder being stacked. The area also includes 85,000 m2 of offices, 10,000 m2 of retail and hospitality, 17,600 m2 of leisure amenities and 7,000 m2 for social facilities such as education. Finally, there will also be approximately 8,000 parking spaces.

Swimming

We want to make DUIN the most sustainable neighbourhood in Almere. To do this we will ensure that the quality of the water in the IJmeer and Markermeer improves and that it’s possible to have a nice swim without any algae. The sand for the dunes will be obtained by digging deep troughs in the IJmeer and Markermeer that the silt can sink into. In addition to this, we will try to ensure that the buildings in Duin don’t use any energy on balance. This can be achieved by building very energy efficient housing and even having other buildings generating energy.
