New Babylon replaces the ‘old’ Babylon by Den Haag CS. The old, introverted building has been partly demolished, altered and extended to create a new, light, spacious and transparent complex. It consists of two towers that are 100 and 140 metres high respectively, and these contain housing, offices, shops and recreational facilities.

Light and space

The old complex remains partly visible via openings in the new transparent external façade. The light and spaciousness is amplified by open courtyard gardens, suspended connecting routes, overhanging parapets and impressive voids. Babylon Den Haag B.V. developed New Babylon. Amvest will purchase 179 of the total of 335 luxury apartments on a turnkey basis, some of which it will sell and the remainder will be rented.

Views

The apartments start on the 11th floor and continue on the higher floors. They offer spectacular views of the city, the sea, the Randstad’s Groene Hart (Green Heart) and Rotterdam’s harbours. A lot of attention was paid to how the accommodation was laid out and all the apartments have outside space, a storeroom and a parking space in the car park immediately below the building.
