Amvest developed the complex together with Ymere. A total of 306 properties were developed combined with approximately 4,000 m2 of business premises and 310 parking spaces. The housing is intended for sales and social and free sector renting. The phased handover took place in the second half of 2007. Westerkaap offers homes for all levels of society.
There is a lot of quality despite the density and complicated location and there are views of the Westerdok and the IJ. There is a senior citizens’ centre and a family practitioner centre and there are productive places with workshops for artists. The complex consists of closed building blocks around three inner courtyards and a separate building. The inner courtyards – which are also known as ‘cours’– are connected to each other and have high quality fittings. They offer residents a meeting place and a safe place for children to play.
