Ypenburg is a VINEX neighbourhood in the municipality of The Hague with approximately 12,000 properties. The properties in this area answer the big demand for homes with a garden. Amvest owns around 2,000 rental properties here, spread throughout the entire neighbourhood. Some of these properties were supplied on a turnkey basis and acquired by Amvest for renting. Subplan 10 of Ypenburg was among the aspects developed by Amvest itself. We completely organised the area and constructed around 400 properties for owner occupation and renting.

Architectural prize

A team of leading architects developed the ideas for the homes and the surroundings. The Hageneiland is part of subplan 10. The MVDRV design for Hageneiland won the 2003 Architectural Prize of the Netherlands Architecture Institute. The properties that are here still attract visitors from around the world.

Unusual designs

A large number of unusual designs were realised in subplan 10. There are blue and green properties and homes on a courtyard with walls covered in grass. There are metal properties and ones that have façades and roofs made from tree bark. Properties with curved façade cladding and others with façades and roofs made from aluminium. The properties aren’t laid out in streets but are arranged in small groups.
